Shear Relief was born from the chair—created by a hairstylist and salon owner, Courtney Jane after 10 years behind the scenes, behind the chair, and in the heart of this industry.

After a decade of caring for others, I found myself in a season where I needed care, too. I was struggling with my mental health, experiencing a season of intense grief; and realized how few resources existed for beauty professionals to take time off, rest, or get support without sacrificing their financial stability.

Like so many of us, I kept working because I felt I had no choice. No safety net. No paid time off. No space to breathe.

And in that moment, the seed for Shear Relief was planted.

Shear Relief exists to support hairstylists and beauty professionals who are going through hard times—emotionally, physically, or financially. We know the beauty industry is built on care, yet the people doing the caring are often the last to receive support. Independent contractors, commission stylists, salon owners—so many of us fall through the cracks when life gets heavy.

My mission is simple:

To provide community, compassion, and financial relief to stylists in crisis so they don’t have to choose between healing and surviving.
